My recollections of summiting Mt. Whitney on August 6th, 2011 with Paul Capistrant, Catrina Capistrant and Matt Ghiglieri, in bullet point format (I’m still pretty beat, just want to get it all written down while it’s fresh). Packed up Thurs night. Woke up 5am Friday and drove to Lone Pine. ~ 5 hrs Participated in 11am lottery. Pulled #10 of 14. Scored only 2 available permits (overnighters) (needed 4). They said to return at 2pm for the day hike lottery …

After stopping by Vons to pack a lunch my brother Paul and I headed to the Atomic Museum in Las Vegas, NV to catch the monthly tour bus out to the Nevada Nuclear Test Site. We signed in, were given visitor badges and loaded up a large, white, unmarked charter bus and headed up through Vegas on the 95 toward the city of Mercury. Our tour guide was a little 81 year old man who’d been working in the NV …

I’ve decided to map and post my reviews of the trails around San Diego. Yes it’s a daunting task but I’m up for it. It’ll give me a reason to do some more exploring. The narrow bike lane of the 101 is full of runners, cyclers (and cars!) but you …
